Olga D. Bonilla Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Olga D. Bonilla, age 84, of Lorain, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at home under the loving care of her daughters and husband.
Olga was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to Juan and Concepción Gonzalez on December 5, 1940. Olga moved with her family to Lorain as a teenager. She spent a brief time in New York before returning. Olga built a life rooted with compassion, giving, and service. A devoted mother, wife, grandmother, cherished friend, and beloved member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Olga was known for her boundless generosity always ready to help anyone in need especially her family.
Olga worked as a seamstress and waitress, and later at Marconi Communications, Lorain where she eventually retired. Olga enjoyed sewing and lovingly crafted masks during the pandemic. A gifted cook, she volunteered her time in the kitchen at Sacred Heart Chapel and found joy in sharing laughter and friendship with her fellow volunteers. Olga also loved traveling, especially taking cruises and trips to Puerto Rico with her husband Luis, and short trips with her daughter Lydiana.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Luis Bonilla; daughters Lydiana Garcia and Lizzette Garcia both of Lorain, grandsons Dennis Rivas of Sheffield and Nikolai of California; granddaughter Kristina Rivera of Lorain; great granddaughter Brynlee of Lorain; sister Carmen Salva of Florida; brother Edwin (Josephine) Gonzalez of Lorain; and 5 step children.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Richard L. Colón, who passed away at age 19 in 2007.
Her family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Father Alexander C. Spenik, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund. Olga's legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in all who knew her.
