Pilar Soto Obituary

Pilar Soto, 66, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 26, 2025, after a long hard-fought, 12-rounds with his adversary, Leukemia.

Pilar was born on January 24, 1959, in Lorain, and was the youngest of the four children of Tony and Rosa (nee Amador) Soto.

He worked as an assembler for 14 years at the Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant. More recently, he was employed as a painter for Wilson painting in Lorain.

He very much enjoyed the game of baseball and being coached by his father. Pilar was a standout pitcher, who even gained interest from a few professional teams. He also loved the art and sport of boxing very much, following many of his favorite Mexican fighters closely. He was an avid pool player and a fierce competitor. Pilar often playing while enjoying his favorite music and song such as "La Unica Estrella". To his family, Pilar was a big teddy bear who was known as their protector.

Survivors include his daughter Jessica (Christina) Porter of California, son Vittorio (Leanne) Soto of Lorain, stepdaughter Jamie (Scott) Hammonds of Elyria. His brothers Pedro (Dora) Soto of Lorain and Tony "Jujo" (Guadalupe) Soto of Texas. His nieces, Estefana (Armando) Martinez of Lorain, and Andrea (Larry) Baker of Elyria Township. His nephews, Anastacio (Sarah) Soto of Vermilion and Alex (Breanna) Soto of Lorain. Pilar also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him very much.

In addition to his parents, Pilar was preceded in death by his sons, Antonio M. Soto and Brian Dempsey and sister Victoria A. Soto.

Pilar's wishes were to be cremated and buried with private services to be held. A graveside service and mass will be held at a later date.
