Ruth Patricia Aponte Obituary
Ruth Patricia (nee Morrissey) Aponte passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Lorain surrounded by her loving family. She stands in His presence, in a restored and healed body. "To those we have loved and lost along the way, may their memory never fade, and may we meet again in a better place.". Ruth was born on January 20, 1954, in Lorain where she built her family, and was a lifelong resident. Ruth graduated from Southview High School and was a member of the Echo's Club.
Ruth worked as a wedding cake decorator for many years and even decorated her own wedding cake. She also worked at AVI Vending, Thomas Packaging, and finally at Republic Steel Mill where she retired from in November 2015. Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. All who knew Ruth felt her love, and she blessed the lives of all she met. She was the rock around which her family was built, and her loss will forever be felt by those who loved her.
Ruth is survived by her children, Hector (Heather) Aponte II, Kevin (Kacey) Aponte, Serena (Javan) Aponte, Jimmie James; grandchildren, Tatyana Brown, Ashanti Brown, Nadia Brown, Gabriel Aponte, Alayna Aponte, Harper Aponte, Emma Aponte, Jasmine Fikes; great grandchildren, Jeyloni Johnson, Reyna Brown, Annistyn Fikes, Lakeland Fikes; sisters, Estella Elwood, and Mary Glass, and daughter by love, Melissa Aponte. She also left behind her beloved cat Jinxy and dog ChiChi whom brought her great joy.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth Keenan-Morrissey and Thomas Morrissey; brothers, Arthur "Bud" (Sally) Keenan, James (Pearl) Keenan, Alan (Connie) Keenan, and great granddaughter Ayla Amia.
May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sunshine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church 591 Ferndale Ave, Vermilion Ohio 44089 on November 22nd, 2025, at 11:00am.
