She was predeceased by: her parents, Nathan Chaffin Sr. and Elizabeth Copley; her brothers, Opie Sammons, Wayne Sammons, Jay Sammons, William Chaffin and Lloyd Chaffin; and her sons, Carmel Newman Jr. and Brian Newman.
She is survived by: her husband Carmel B. Newman; and her children, Sharon Newsome (Bill) of Kentucky, Michael Newman (Deanne) of South Amherst and Nathan Newman (Heather) of Amherst. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
