He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul H. Burkey and Bernice Burkey (Bills); his wife Bessie Burkey (Wilson); his daughter Mary Ann; his son-in-law Bill Harmon; and his siblings, Dorothy Grimes, Elizabeth Store, Paul and Gary Burkey.
He is survived by: his daughters, Betti Jo Harmon, Bonni Brockway (Wayne), Becki Brockway (Steve), Bobbi Burkey, Beverli Sweitzer (Larry) and Billi Janet Burkey (Harry Boyd); his sister Annette Wilson; his sister-in-law Joanne Burkey; and his grandchildren, William Harmon, Joshua, Kristie, Levi, Anna, Elias, Amos, Jeremy Brockway (Brigid), Jessica Blanton (Josh), Andrew Brockway (Kendra Petzoldt), Emily, Ethan, Ellena, Eila, Emberlynn and Brian Sweitzer (Annamaria Christian). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Center Church of the Brethren (2811 Ravenna Ave, East Canton, OH 44730). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Habitat for Humanity of Canton and Greater Stark County.
