He was predeceased by: his parents, Holly Friend and Amy Inez Friend (Cottrell); his wife Mary Friend (Kelsey); his son Paul Friend; and his siblings, Zelda Friend and Luther Friend.

He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Shock of Canton; his granddaughter Heather Shock (Jeff Grosenbaugh) of Louisville; and his great grandchildren, Jayden, Jensen and Jordan Grosenbaugh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Malvern Christian Care Center.
