He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Mickley and Margaret "Babe" Mickley (Guenther); his son David Mickley; and his brothers-in-law, David Burkhart and Daniel Burkhart.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lyssa "Melissa" Mickley (Burkhart); his children, Eric Mickley (Christine) of Ashland, OH, Chris Mickley of Columbus, OH, Daniel Mickley of Powell, OH, Ryan Mickley (Mary) of Marion, OH, Nathan Mickley (Kim) of Vancouver, WA and Sarah Conron (Zachary) of Greenbelt, MD; his grandchildren, David, Julie Ann, Charleigh and Lucy; his stepgrandchildren, Skyler and Alexandra; his siblings, Sandra Ridgeway of Danville, OH, Kay Waren of Danville, OH, Joan Workman (Steve) of Danville, OH, Mary Jo Looney (Chet) of Danville, OH, Barbara Kirk of Danville, OH and Michael Mickley (Beckie) of Mt. Vernon, OH; and his siblings-in-law, Timothy, Paula Burkhart of Sonoma, CA, Paul, Leslie Burkhart of British Columbia, Mark, Lynn Burkhart of Florissant, MO, Jon and Lila Burkhart of Evanston, IL. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
