Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved James Edward Smith of Mansfield, Ohio, born in Carter, Kentucky, who passed away at the age of 75, on November 21, 2020. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Smith and Gladys Smith (Binion); his stepmother Avenell Smith; his siblings, Harold "Gene" Smith, Ercel Smith, Loretta Sowards and Marzetta Bennett; his brothers-in-law, Rick Sowards and Jerry Arthur; and his nephew Shane Bennett.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Smith (Sowards); his children, Jeff Brown, Valerie "LeAnn" Haslar (Jon), Jeannie Zickefoose (Daryl), James "Scott" Smith (Tina) and Deana Smith; his stepbrother Clifford Ray Carroll (Ann); and his siblings-in-law, Paul Sowards, Morgan Sowards Jr., Goldie Smith and Penny Sowards Arthur. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
