She was predeceased by : her parents, Leo Mertz and Frances Mertz; her son Mark E. Black; and her grandson Marquese Dasal Cameron. She is survived by : her children, Darren S. Black, Vanessa Coombs (Larry) and Delarcy Black, III; her grandchildren, Durbey Black (Jackie), Kenya Coombs (Haley), Durrell Black (Wendy), Maria Black, Riyad Black (Aeriona Sylvester), Fawn Coats, Micah Tolliver (Meka), Ed Thompson (Sharaun) and Ciara Stevens (Sharod); and her siblings, Paul Mertz and Nancy Meyer (Bob). She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
