He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Speelman and Catherine Speelman (Breen); his wife Laura Speelman; his brother James Speelman; and his siblings-in-law, Henry Nezrick Jr., JoAnn and John Cates.

He is survived by: his children, Barb Stimmell (Rick), Brian Speelman, Mike Speelman, Steve Speelman (Edie), Joe Speelman (Melissa), Matt Speelman (Kris) and Kristin Mudra (Joe); his brother Timothy Speelman (Patricia); and his siblings-in-law, Denny Nezrick (Dee) and Geri Speelman. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandsons, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter's School Annual Fund – Tuition.
