Virginia Johnson Obituary
Virginia V. JOHNSON, 82, of 238 W. Fifth St. died Friday morning, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. JOHNSON was born to the late John and Virginia B. Norman Street in Blufield, West Virginia and had lived in Mansfield the past 38 years. Virginia was a homemaker, a loving mother, and a full time minister's wife.
As a minister's wfie her envolvement with the church had a wide range, her most important responsibility was serving as the first lady of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for 30 years with her husband the late Rev. Archie Johnson, Jr. until his retirement in 1998 where she remained a member. She was a former member of the Senior Choir, piano player, administrator of the Feed the Hungry Program, and supported and sponsored the youth events at the church just to name a few.
Virginia is survived by 2 Daughters: Allegra Johnson of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Kieta Johnson of Waldorf, Maryland; 3 Sons: Wiseman (Gwendolyn) T. Johnson of Granite Falls, North Carolina, Monte Johnson of Mansfield, and Algernon Johnson of Rockville, Maryland; 16 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren; 4 Sisters: Emma Cobbs of Chicago, Illinois, Aurola Hairston of Beckley, West Virginia, Onita Whitaker of Queens, New York, Margaret Grant of Springfield, Massachusetts; 1 Brother Charles Street of Long Island City, New York; and her God Daughter Tonie Lee of Mansfield.
In addition to her parents and husband Virginia was preceded in death by 11 Brothers & Sisters.
