She was predeceased by: her parents, George Payne (Pop) and Fern Whetstone Payne; her husband Homer Ellis Smith; her daughter-in-law Lou Smith; and her siblings, Joretta Wheaton, Grace Saad, Eloise Burwell, Waldine Beardmore, Mary Lou Lassiter, Bill, Bob and Everet Payne.

She is survived by: her children, Drew Smith (Lou) of Marietta, Kent Smith (Anna) of Marietta and Lisa Smith-Barth (Brian) of Marietta; her grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Amy), Alane Sanders (Adam), Brandon Smith (Larissa), Brady and Alex Barth; and her great grandchildren, Owen, Leah Sanders, Saylor and Crew Smith.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Souls Harbor Baptist Church (115 Caywood Rd, Marietta, OH 45750). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
