He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis T. Abele and Kathleen Rounsefell Wilke Abele; his wife Mona Jean Downing of Zanesville; his brother Louis E. Abele; his sister-in-law Joann Downing; his in-laws, Denzil and Vernice Downing; and his son-in-law Paul Leiter.
He is survived by: his children, Ann Abele, Rick Abele (Lauren) and Adam Abele (Jeannine); his grandchildren, Nicole Manz (Brad), Kathleen Schisler (Matt), Eric Stoltz (Anne) and Alexandra Sherwood (Andrew); his great grandchildren, Shane, Keegan Manz, Ryan, Ally Schisler, Jackson, Quinn, Ty and Sadie Stoltz; and his siblings-in-law, Jack Downing (Gwen), Dave Downing (Lori Clark) and Phyllis Abele. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
