He was predeceased by: his parents, John G. Bauer and Mary Bauer (Heintz); his daughter Deborah Miller; and his siblings, Clara Baldwin, Katherine Siley, John G. Bauer Jr., Mary Margaret Pfeffer, Paul J. Bauer, Lela Schenkel, Josephine Wilson and Rosemary Austin.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Valentine; and his grandchildren, Andrew Mills, Michael Mills, Elizabeth Hoffman, Jessica Miller, Bradley Bauer, Jared Bauer, Joshua Bauer and Brandon Bauer. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home - Marietta (408 Front St, Marietta, OH 45750). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption (500 4th St, Marietta, OH 45750). A burial will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the New St. Mary's Cemetery.
