He was predeceased by: his father James Earl; his great grandchild Harper Gay; and his siblings, James, Lois Jean, Robert, Loretta and Ronald.
He is survived by: his children, Rosemarie 'Mim' Gay (Tom) of Plymouth, James Coulson (Stephanie) of Montgomery and Timothy Coulson (Billie) of Marion, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jake Gay (Nora), Morgan Koops (Phil), Thomas Robert Coulson (Cindy), Jonathan Coulson, Draconis "Brandan Coulson" Lehner (Jackie), James Russell Coulson Jr., Stephen Faulker, Laura Katherine Coulson (Deyi Kong) and Chloé Rose Marie Nemitz (Ryan Mancel); his stepgrandchildren, James Smith III (Shannon Keirns) and Shania Smith; and his great grandchildren, Evelyn, Sydney, Taylor, Gabriel, Isabella 'Belle', Charlotte, Robert, Angel, Emberlynn, Natasha, Jayden and Bo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
