He was predeceased by: his parents, George L. Dodds and Josephine F. Dodds (Wells); and his siblings, Russell Britton and Lynnette Hines. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Dodds of Marion; his children, Zon Dodds (Kim) of Marion and Natelle Ball (Robert) of Lancaster; his grandchildren, Xavier Dodds, Tyler Ball, Riss Davis and Anna Ball; and his siblings-in-law, Susan Britton and Patrick Hines. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
