He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Scharf and Mary Scharf (Wolf); his brother Richard "Rick" Scharf; his stepfather John Scharf; and his siblings-in-law, Shasta Scharf, Jesse Price and Frank Robinson.
He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Moritz (Toby Kissling) of New Bloomington, Mandy Langhirt (Aaron) of Delaware, Laura Mitchell of Marion and David Scharf (Monica) of Honolulu, Hawaii; his siblings, Mary Jo Miller (David) of Platteville, CO, Diane Robinson of Richwood, Carol Thiel (John) of Marion, Jane Scharf of Marion, Paula Price of LaRue, Tom Scharf of Cape Coral, FL, Pat Scharf (Gail) of Marion and Steve Scharf of Marion; his grandchildren, Matthew Moritz, Emma Moritz (Nate Schneider), Olivia Kissling, Kimberly Langhirt, Andrew Langhirt, Abigail Langhirt, Joseph Langhirt, Austin Scharf and Evan Scharf; his great grandchild Tatum Schneider; and his sister-in-law Chris Scharf of Mansfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Michael's honor may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
