He was predeceased by: his father Carl Shepherd; his wife Thelma (Saunders); his children, Cheryl Lavonne and Pamula Sue; and his children-in-law, Melinda and Lloyd.
He is survived by: his children, Barry (Melinda) of Marion, Shelia Shepherd of Cardington and Carla Lucas (Lloyd) of Marion; his grandchildren, JD, Jennifer Simmers, Michelle, Michael Sprague, Nikki Shepherd, Tiffney Shepherd, Martino Celli and Angela Pline; his great grandchildren, Kami Simmers, Jimmy Simmers III, Jayden Sprague, Mila Simmers, Anya Simmers, Nevaeh Simmers, Nadia Simmers, Joseph Simmers, Jonathon Simmers, Brittany Pennington, Ellie Pline, Cameron Pline, Martino Celli Jr. and Athena Celli; and his great great grandchild Julian Norton Simmers (JuJu). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
