With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary A. Gates of Martins Ferry, Ohio, who passed away on October 9, 2025 at the age of 78. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gary A. Gates to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Austin and Violet Virginia Gates (Hall); his son-in-law Michael Joseph Trabert II; and his great grandchild Arloh Gates. He is survived by: his children, Heather L. Trabert and Gary Steven Gates (Gigit); his former wife Cindi Schwender-Kirkland of St. Clairsville; his cousin Jeanne Barrett of New Manchester; and his grandchildren, Brittnay Neal (Casey), Ashley Berka (Josh), Scott Gates, Valerie Gates, Keirstin Trabert and Kamrynn Trabert.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Toothman Funeral Home (141 S Marietta St, St Clairsville, OH 43950). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
