He was predeceased by: his parents, David Crockett and Dolly Opal Shepherd (Tolle); his son James G. "Jimmy"; his daughter-in-law Jane Shepherd Jr.; his son Jeffrey Shepherd; his granddaughter Janice May Shepherd; his brother David; his sister-in-law Carolyn Shepherd; and his siblings, Larry Shepherd, Faye Ashley (Lawrence), Bonnie Swisshelm and Judy Brien.
He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Shepherd (Dalton); his daughters, Jackie D. Stone and Janet K. Smith; and his siblings, Chester Shepherd and Virginia McKinney. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren.
