He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Godwin and Eleanor Godwin; his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Linda Godwin; and his sister Mary Frances Godwin Parke.

He is survived by: his wife Penny S. Wood Godwin; his stepchildren, Tricia Burroughs and Wesley Burroughs; his siblings-in-law, Cathy Fraker (Harold) and Gene Wood (Karen); his niece Cheryl Colatruglio; his great-niece Christa; and his great-nephew Michael (Amy). He is also survived by many other relatives and close friends.
