She was predeceased by: her parents, George Hess and Edna Hess Marshall (Maurer); her husband Fred Richter; her great grandchild Angelina Hope Volpe; and her siblings, Mary Lou VanFossen, Lucille Kopp, Gerald "Sonny" Hess and Richard Hess.

She is survived by: her children, Vicki Seifert (Martin) of North Canton and Carl Richter (Gale) of Urbana, Maryland; her grandchildren, Matthew Richter (Suzanne), Michelle Volpe (Dennis), Megan MacCauley (Kevin), Martin Seifert (Nicole) and Melissa Mistretta (Keith); and her siblings, Patty Halter (Ray) of Massillon, Jackie Pritchard of Dover, Doris Dotts of Dover, Suzie Zifer of Dover and George Hess (Barb) of New Philadelphia. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
