He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Nickol and Catherine Nickol (Geibel). He is survived by: his wife Linda Nickol (Kirby); his brother Robert Nickol; his children, Torri Petyovszki (Andy), Nancy Melhorn, Tracy Berkey, Nikki Harless and Molly Stevens; his grandchildren, Sheena, Dakota, Amanda, Kaci, Steven, Lakota and Jordin; and his great grandchild Karson. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
