He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Shepherd and Ruth E. Shepherd (Orner); his brothers, Terry and Larry Shepherd; his sister-in-law Linda Shepherd; and his son-in-law Jim Starkey.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Shepherd; his siblings, Nancy Rainsberger (Jim), Francie Seaman (David), Lynn Bessell (Wayne), Donald Shepherd (Shelly) and Jerry Shepherd; the mother of his children Helen Thornberry; his children, Lori Starkey, Jill Ott (Mark) and Jacob Umstead; his stepchildren, Matthew Eddleman, Eric Russ, Marissa Armstrong (Shaun) and Emilee Wells; his grandchildren, Jeremy Starkey (Alexa), Haley Cockerham (Joshua), Nate Ott (Ellen), Noah Ott (Abby), Gatlin, Liam, Lainey, Eason and Elijah; and his great grandchild Jack. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
