He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Kirkman and Wanda Kirkman (Shintock); his brothers, Karl and Art; and his siblings-in-law, James Sager and Joann Kirkman.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Sager; his children, Jim Kirkman (Jane) of Oregon, Tom Kirkman (Donna) of Perrysburg, Bob Kirkman of Decatur, Georgia and Tracey Miller (Greg) of Waterville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Ethan (Danielle), Katie, Kayla, Samantha, Corwyn, Dorothea, Kennedy, Paige, Kori Jo and Morgan; and his sister-in-law Connie Kirkman. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Cherry Street Mission or Zion Lutheran Church in Waterville, Ohio.
