Chester L. Curtis Obituary
We announce the death of Chester L. Curtis of McConnelsville, Ohio, who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 85. Chester will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Okey Curtis and Emma Stevens Curtis; his wife Phyllis "Sue" Curtis; his siblings, Paul Curtis, Elmer Curtis, Ronald "Red" Curtis, Okey Junior Curtis, David Curtis, Leah Bernadine LaFaber, Sarah Beaver and Jewell Eloise Montgomery; and his brother-in-law Marvin George.
He is survived by: his children, Chet Jr., Sheryl Hooper (Jared) and Mike Curtis (Twila); his grandchildren, Sheena Cunningham (Rob), Tyrell Curtis, Kaywin Edwards, Nora Riggs (Michael), Olivia Hooper, Melissa Wallace (David), Tim Curtis (Jen), Casey Curtis (Kyla Robinson), Dylan Curtis and Joey Curtis; his siblings, Irma Boyer, Ivan Curtis (Shirley) and Irvin Curtis (Cindy); and his siblings-in-law, Duane George, Gary George (Betty), Allen George (Stacey) and Linda Palmore (Bobby). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Matheney Funeral Home (165 N Kennebec Ave, McConnelsville, OH 43756). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at the Meigsville Cemetery (4027-4599 E Hooppole Ridge Rd NE, McConnelsville, OH 43756).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chet's name to the Morgan Cross Country or Morgan Track and Field, 800 Raider Drive, McConnelsville, Ohio 43756.
