She was predeceased by : her parents, Jay Hale and Rosie Bowens Hale; her husband William Goodwin; her son William Timothy Sheppard; her siblings, Gladys, LulaBelle, Elva, Joe and Virgil; and her grandson William Stowers.

She is survived by : her children, Margie Thomas (David Altman) of Enon, Gwen Hollifield of Enon and Darryl Goodwin (Theresa Chandler) of Sneads; her siblings, Emma and Clyde; and her grandchildren, Charles Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Robert Hollifield, Aleysia Korn, Taylor Goodwin and Casey Goodwin.
