He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Godwin and Gertrude Godwin (Huffman); his siblings, Violet Godwin, Joe, Bob, Clarence, Harry and Ralph Godwin; and his children, Ricky Zizelman and Debbie Zizelman.
He is survived by: his wife Marietta "Mary" Godwin (Clay); his children, Sheryl Godwin-Routt (Jeff) of Van Wert, Jeffrey Godwin (Juli) of Westerville, Dianne Wiehe (Ken) of Celina, Sharron Godwin (Tailo Brown) of Dayton, LeighAnne Shaffer (Jim) of Mendon, Greg Zizelman (Penny) of Mendon and Kevin Zizelman of Mendon; and his brother Richard Godwin (Mary). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Jim's Forever, Inc. (7172 OH-707, Mendon, OH 45862). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM.
In honor of Jim's service and sacrifice, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
