He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Eugene and Jean Avon Sawmiller (Kolter). He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Colter; his children, Aaron Colter (Leah) of Minster, Jered Colter (Allie) of Versailles, Mary Dillhoff (Chris) of Worthington, Brandy Suman (Ryan) of Celina, Paul Sawmiller (Sarah) of Mendon and Jordan Sawmiller (Amanda) of Versailles; and his siblings, Paula Bice of Spencerville, Claudine Hawk of Spencerville, Roxanne Louth of Spencerville and Michael Sawmiller (Laura) of Spencerville. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home (728 E 4th St, Spencerville, OH 45887).
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be given to Dr. Dwight Owen with the James A. Rhodes Cancer Center.
