He was predeceased by: his son Timothy Varney; his parents, Roscoe Varney and Dollie Varney; and his siblings, Roscoe "Joe" Varney, James Varney, Danny Ray Varney, Nettie Lou Lillis and Nellie Sue Greer.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Varney; his children, David Varney and Nedra Varney; and his grandsons, Kaden Wrayno and Myles Wrayno.
