We are sad to announce that, on February 25, 2026, Russell E. Nightengale of Mentor, Ohio passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie Gehringer Nightengale; his father Russel W.; and his sister Joanne Knicely. He is survived by: his children, Russell S. Nightengale and Melissa N. Geric (Frank); his grandchildren, Dr. Katherine M. Geric and Dominic J. Nightengale; his nieces and nephews, Mark Brown, Cheryl Brown, Kellie White, Greg Thorngate, Eric Thorngate, Michelle Thorngate Hall, Justin Anthony, Meggan Pasqualla and Caleb Futey; and his friend Scott.
For those wishing to donate to the Oglebay Foundation, we are planning a memorial bench at Schenk Lake—please mark contributions "Russ Nightengale Bench."We also plan to create a foundation in his name to provide sports equipment—so no child has to use a peach basket to play basketball.
