She was predeceased by: her husband Mike Karner; her parents, Agnes Konkel and Charles Konkel; and her grandchildren, Dale Hutchins, Amber Hutchins and Duane "DJ" Gardner.
She is survived by: her children, Cindy Gardner (Duane), Sherry Hutchins (Rick) and Teffin Karner; her grandchildren, Dana Kaufman (Tom), Kevin Hutchins, Dane Gardner (Amber), Michael Maffit, Jim Maffit (Gabbi), Dylan Gardner (Jordan) and Aubrey Tankovich (Kyle); her granddaughter-in-law Jen Gardner; and her great grandchildren, Duane Thomas Gardner, Owen Kaufman, Wyatt Kaufman, Lizzy Gardner, Lorelai Kaufman, Lincoln Kaufman, Brooklyn Gardner, Bryson Gardner and Emilia Tankovich.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mentor Cemetery (6881 Hopkins Rd, Mentor, OH 44060).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, whose compassionate care supported her and her family during her final days.
