He is survived by: his wife Joan Bernard (Dow); and his children, Mary Proctor, Edward Bernard (Michele), Stephen Bernard (Cindy), Andrew Bernard (Nija), Gregory Bernard, Elizabeth Large (Stuart) and Joanna Slater (Carl). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
