He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry J. Layer and Mary Layer; and his sister Lucy J Jacoby (Byron "Sam"). He is survived by: his wife Violet Layer; his son Timothy Brian Layer (Charla); his grandchildren, Casey D. Flournoy (Douglas), Sara R. Hammond (Lee) and Ryan M. Pease (Lindsey); and his great grandchildren, Vincent, Reece, Rylin, Natalie, Kinsley, Darla, Maddox, Lyluxe, Harper, Fennox and Emmryx.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Parkview Church (3713 Benner Rd, Miamisburg, OH 45342). A reception was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
One of Berman's greatest contributions to his community was serving for 15 years as a Miami-Township Trustee.
