He was predeceased by : his parents, Van M. Lear and Vera A. Lear (Sandstrom); his sons, Dale Clifford Lear, Dean, Van, Fred and Robert; his sister Joan E. Starr; and his great grandchild Jayden.

He is survived by : his wife Violet Leta Lear (Somerville); his son Michael R. Lear (Tracy); his granddaughters, Hannah Lear and Amber Kirkwood (family: Anthony Lear); his sister Nancy Costanzo; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanie McAndrew and Lois Marley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
