He was predeceased by: his parents, John Byler and Mary Byler (Detweiler); and his brothers, Dan, Jake and Andy Byler.
He is survived by: his wife Alta Byler (Troyer); his children, Mary Ann Byler, Aden Byler, Betty Ann Miller (Jay), Jon Jon Byler and Sara Jane Kuhns (Matt); and his siblings, John "Smily" Byler (Fannie "Betz), Sarah Fisher (Allan), Emma Byler-Durham and Esther Ricer (Charlie). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
