He was predeceased by : his parents, Jonas McClellan Conkle and Frances Kathleen Athey Conkle; his siblings, Frances Carol Hafey and Robert Athey Conkle; his former life partner Doris Rhodes Conkle; and his wife Betty Leonard Conkle.

He is survived by : his nieces and nephews, Luther Hafey (Sally) of Ashville, Carla Harvey of Indiana, PA, Mike Conkle (Deborah) of Kyger, Shelia Taylor (James) of Bidwell, Linda Fishburn of Columbus and Cindy Caruthers of Kyger.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to River of Life United Methodist church of Gallipolis or the American Legion Post 128 of Middleport, Ohio.
