She was predeceased by: her parents, Eli Sandlin and America Sandlin (McDaniel); her husband Donald E. Brown, Sr.; her children, Dianne Mayes and Donald E. Brown, Jr.; her grandchildren, Douglas Mayes, Jr. and Emily Brown Storey; and her siblings, Velma Sapp, Floyd Sandlin (Gracie), John Sandlin, Eli Sandlin, Jr. and Larry Sandlin.
She is survived by: her children, Joyce Curtis (Mark) of West Chester, OH and Douglas Mayes of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Zachary Curtis, Alexis Curtis-Merritt (Todd), Noah Curtis (Danielle), Julie Meeks (Jonathan), Bryan Davidson, Nick Mayes, Daniel Mayes and Sam Mayes (Molly); and her close friend Hattie Tate. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren & nephews.
