He was predeceased by: his father Samuel; and his siblings, Wayne Cox, Sam Cox, Jr., Lenora Lovelace, Freda Bennett and Cora Jean Foster.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Duane Cox II, Douglas Cox (Pamela), Chastity Thiems (Tyler) and Kristina Herron (Rod); and his siblings, David Cox, Daryl Cox (Jo), Wanda Barrentine, Anna Jewell, Karen Lewis, Mitzi Deaton and Rhonda "Pinky" Tincher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
