He was predeceased by: his parents, William Parrish and Rosa Parrish; his wife Opal Uldine Parrish; his grandson James A. Parrish, Jr.; and his siblings, Louella Cody, Lucille Carr, Paul, Cecil, Herbert, Robert and Glen Parrish.
He is survived by: his daughter Judy Ratliff (Jim); his grandchildren, Jimmy Ratliff (Jena), Heather Ratliff, Sean Parrish (Lori) and Joseph Parrish; his sister Virginia Sue White (Jack) of West Virginia; and his sisters-in-law, Mabel Parrish and Dorothea Parrish of Ohio. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; and one new great-great granddaughter.
