He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Groves and Bertha Groves (Reffitt); and his brothers, Ronald Clay Groves, George L. Groves and Phillip Groves.

He is survived by: his children, April Hague (Ron), Eric Groves (Vanessa), Justin Groves (Krystal) and Adam Groves (Becky); and his siblings, Linda Blanton (Les), Vickie Noes (Donald), Deborah Bailey (Lyle), Regina Pendleton (Wayne) and Steve Groves (Betty). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
