He was predeceased by: his parents, Linus Bauer and Martha Bauer (Wiley); his wife Jean Bauer (Risden); his daughter Sherry E. Bauer; and his siblings, Carol Bauer, Jaunita Carruthers, Charles Bauer and David Bauer.

He is survived by: his children, Noel Steel (Shannon), Pearl Bauer, Carol Bauer, Hazel Bauer and Richard A Bauer, Jr. (Barbara); his grandchildren, Michael Steel (Heather), Faith Hammons (Adam), Shannon Steel, Madelynn Sosa, Austin Singer, Adrianna Singer and Eliza Bauer; and his niece Lori Kaser. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews.
