He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Swearingen and Mary Swearingen; his children, Mary Michele Hopkins and Alan Scott "Scooter" Swearingen; his grandson Walker; and his sisters, Mary Ann Cardwell, Florence Taylor, Janelle Rice and Helen Sexton.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Swearingen; his daughters, Tammy Rena Heagy (Arthur Jr.), Dawn Marie Carpenter (Jon) and Kimberly Ann Sheangshang; his grandchildren, Tony (Olivia), Andrew (Ashleigh), Avery, Ashton, Arielle, Kyle of Shelby, J. T., Faith, Justin (Jennifer), Destiny and Katelyn; his great grandchildren, Maci, Brandie, Sylviah, Jamison, Jace, Jayden, Liam and Riley; and his sibling Deanie Collier. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
