He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward James Koons and Anna Magdalene Koons; his siblings, Irene Koons, Paul Koons, James "Jiggs" Koons, Phyllis Romanowski and Shirley Sayre; and his nephews, Larry Koons and Jerry Koons.

He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Koons; his children, Terry Koons and Jennifer Koons-Weston (Ginny); and his grandchildren, Sydney Hosek and Logan Hosek.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church (31 Republic Ave, Glouster, OH 45732). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
