Ruby Mae Guy Obituary

Ruby Mae Guy, beloved wife of the late Arthur "Art" Guy, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 13, 2026. Her first day in heaven came on her 94th birthday here on earth, as she was born on July 13, 1932.

Born to Fredrick and Winifred (Koster) Potter in Worthington, Minnesota, she considered it a blessing to be raised in a Christian home. She became a musician early on, singing in church, for school events, and with community big-bands in her youth. After marrying Art, she fully embraced her life as a minister's wife. She led children and adult choirs and served as the Music Director of Minerva First Christian Church for almost 40 years. She led music virtually every Sunday and directed the church choir. These choirs filled the sanctuary with the beautiful sounds of cantatas every Christmas, as she saw music as a way to bring people closer to God.

She loved serving God. She taught young children in Quiz Kids and led the God's Kids children's choir. She taught the young adult Sunday School Class for over 20 years. She directed VBS for many years and loved it all. For close to half a century, there was not a member of the church that she did not encourage in some way.

Serving our Savior alongside Art gave her great joy. Together they had 3 children, Patricia "Patty" (Guy) Crawford also a minister's wife, served diligently in her church, particularly in leading a Christian School, Thomas "Tom" Guy, has been a church leader and music leader throughout his life as a high school teacher, and Daniel "Dan" Guy who has been a long time Elder and Sunday School teacher, while working as a counselor. All of her 7 grandchildren actively serve as leaders in their respective churches, and she was proud of the fact that 3 of her grandsons have become ministers and a granddaughter serving in full-time ministry. She has 9 great grandchildren and 1 on the way. They are all active servants in the churches they attend. The fact that all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren actively worship the Lord is what she considered her greatest legacy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
