He was predeceased by : his parents, Bernard Esselman and Ruth Esselman (O'Brien); his children, Danielle Esselman, Andrew Esselman and Laurence Esselman; and his sisters, Martha Esselman and Shirley Bast.

He is survived by : his wife Anna Esselman (Otte); his children, Beth Schwab (John), Anthony Esselman (Rose), Cathi Keeshan (Jerry), Bernard M. Esselman and Louis Esselman; and his siblings, Ruth Hasemeier and Louis Esselman (Marilyn). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; along with numerous nieces & nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (330 Lebanon St, Monroe, OH 45050). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
