He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Doris Major and John Delmar Groves; and his siblings, Cynthia Marie Groves, Gladys Medley and John Groves.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Groves of Morristown; his daughters, Cheryl Borkoski (John) of Morristown and Lisa Groves of Morristown; and his grandchildren, Justin Borkoski of Louisville and Katie Robson (Jed) of Auburn, Kentucky.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
