He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Garner and Arlene C. Garner (Willey); his brothers, Michael Garner and Bill Lingrel; and his sibling-in-law Jamie Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Ann (Stambaugh); his stepson Michael Bush (Rachel) of Marion; his grandson Junior; his siblings, Richard Garner (Trish) of Lexington, Paul Garner (Vicky) of Georgia, James Lingrel of Texas and Pam Garner of Cardington; and his siblings-in-law, Jane Dudley (Don) of Mount Gilead, Ginny Rocky of St. Louisville, Lawrence Stambaugh of Westerville and Jerry Stambaugh (Collen) of Centerburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
