He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles West and Jeanne West (Miller); and his brother John D. West. He is survived by: his caregiver Trisha Harding; his sons, John A. West (Suzy) and Greg West (Dee); his stepchildren, Charity Raimond, Charma Patterson (Jeff) and Jason Humes; his siblings, Betty Swetland (Duane) and Jim West (Donna); his granddaughter Kaylee West; and his stepgrandchildren, Tiff, Jake, Matt and Tyler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was generous, donating to many organizations including the Moose Lodge.
