We announce the death of James G. Scott (Mount Vernon, Ohio), who passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 79. James will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. James will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. James’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John James and Reva Jean Scott (Auten); and his grandson Joseph Lee Colopy. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Scott (Blair); his daughter Phyllis Colopy (Dennis) of Howard; and his grandchildren, Shelby and Bryce Colopy. He is also survived by his wife, daughter, grandchildren, family, friends.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Amity Cemetery (16650 Gilchrist Rd, Mt Vernon, OH 43050).
